Advocate Leks Makua was admitted as an advocate in 2009 and is a member of the Johannesburg Bar. He specializes in Labour Law and other areas of interest are Medical Malpractice and Constitutional Litigation.
He was appointed as Public Prosecutor in 1990, and in 1995 was appointed as one of the first Executive Managers of the new Public Service under President Nelson Mandela. He served as Nehawu’s Shopsteward responsible for recruitment of Senior Managers and established Nehawu’s Management Forum in 1986.
He was appointed as National Legal Officer of Numsa and represented union members in disciplinary hearings, arbitrations and the Labour Courts. He served as CCMA Commissioner and Panelist Mediator and Arbitrator in various bargaining councils and is currently a Panelist with Tokiso Dispute Resolution. He is a member of Black Lawyers Association, Advocates for Transformation and South African Society of Labour Lawyers (SASLAW).
