José is a human resources and labour relations professional with over 25 years experience in a number of SADC countries, the last 13 years in Mozambique in key economic development mega projects such as MOZAL, SASOL Gas, Moatise Coal, Moma Titanium Mining and Corridor Sands as well as other industrial and commercial sectors of the economy.
In Mozambique he has been a private sector representative in a number of committees having played a leading role in the creation of the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration of Labour Disputes (COMAL) in Mozambique.
José’s career spans a number of industrial sectors including mining, civil engineering design and construction and aluminium smelting. He has a wide range of local and international clients which he consults to. His consultancy practice includes a wide range of human resource services, including labour relations, training, negotiations, retirement and health plans, industrial relations audits, development of project labour agreements, and dispute resolution services.
José began his career in the mining industry and then spent 13 years as an Engineer in the City Engineers Department in Durban before changing his career to the field of labour relations. He is a graduate of the Natal University where he did his BA in Political Science and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources from Wits Business School, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Law : Dispute Resolution (UCT).
