Esther is a part time senior commissioner at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) and serves on the panels of various bargaining councils. She has chaired disciplinary hearings since 1992, became a member (presiding officer) of the then Industrial Court in 1993, was a panellist of the Independent Mediation Service of South Africa (IMSSA), and has done work for the CCMA since 1998.
Esther has experience in writing conditions of employment as well as contracts of employment for employers, and advises both employers and employees on labour matters.
Formerly an associate professor of labour law, Esther lectured at various universities on labour law, occupational health and safety law, and social security law.
Esther serves on the Directorate of Market Abuse, and has held positions of trust such as serving as trustee of the Financial Services Consumer Education Foundation.
Esther is based in Pretoria.
