Ebrahim has an excellent track record as a neutral third party facilitator. He is equally at ease mediating, arbitrating, facilitating or training.
Ebrahim is a practicing attorney. Since 1998 he has specialised in Employment Law, Appropriate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Training. He has been trained and gained valuable grounding as an Arbitrator and Mediator at the now defunct IMSSA.
Ebrahim has achieved the prestigious international accreditation as a Commercial Mediator from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the UK.
Ebrahim is a professional mediator; arbitrator and facilitator at TOKISO dispute settlement (Commercial and Labour Panel), the CCMA National and Gauteng Panel, The Centre for Conflict Resolution (Cape Town) and several bargaining council. He has successfully mediated; arbitrated and facilitated numerous individual and collective disputes.
Ebrahim co-lectures Alternative Dispute Resolution to final year law students at Wits Law School and lectures in Contract Law and Labour Law at Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership. He has lectured Labour Law, Collective Bargaining, Negotiation Skills and Labour Relations at Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership; Negotiation Skills and Conflict Management for NW University Business School and taught Labour Law and ADR to candidate attorneys for the Law Societies Practical Legal Training programmes.
His diverse skills have proven valuable in interventions such as: he has co-mediated a socio-political dispute between the government, labour and business delegations of Swaziland, facilitated institutional change and relationship building in organisations such as Transnet, PetroSA and Telkom. Ebrahim was the chief facilitator and report writer in the unique one day facilitation with all the employees at the National Department of Minerals & Energy Affairs. He has Programme Managed and finalised the report for the Biennial Public Service Conference in 2007 and the Pubclic service summit in 2009. He has successfully mediated complex commercial dispute in access of R65 million within a Broad Based BEE company. He has assisted this company establish a functioning board and is facilitating their strategic plan. He has facilitated the strategic direction for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, General Public Service Bargaining Council and National African Women’s Alliance (NAWA).
In addition, Ebrahim is an experienced trainer and course designer in most aspects of Labour Law, Labour Relations, Appropriate Dispute Resolution, Negotiation Skills and Conflict Management. He has developed training manuals, provided training and managed national training projects for numerous public and private organisations. He has facilitated some of the modules for the CCMA’s commissioner training.
Ebrahim is determined above all to promote the appropriate use of mediation and arbitration as effective means to resolve conflict. He has also acted as a judge at the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition in Paris during 2009 and has coached the first SA University team to compete at the ICC in Paris in 2010. He currently provides extensive training in mediation and ADR methods to attorneys, through the Law Society.
