John is an attorney with extensive mediation and arbitration experience, an accredited Centre for Effective Mediation (CEDR) Mediator and founder member of the Tokiso Commercial Mediation Panel. He was a Senior lecturer at the University of Fort Hare for 15 years where he served in the following capacities; senior lecturer, lecturer’s representative on Senate, head of department, Dean Faculty of Law and Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor. He is currently the proprietor of Robertsons (Arbitrator, Attorney & Mediator).
John is an arbitrator and mediator for numerous bargaining councils and the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
John is also an external examiner and moderator in conflict management at the University of Port Elizabeth and moderator in labour law and arbitration at Rhodes University. He was the chairperson of the board of trustees of Umthathi Training Project Grahamstown (2001-2008) and a trustee of the board of trustees of the Independent Development Trust (2002-2007). Currently he is the chairperson of the Environmental Monitoring Committee (EMC) for the Coega IDZ and Port of Nqura, Port Elizabeth.
John is based in Grahamstown.
